Festival Guidelines

The Festival Guidelines document provides guidance and practical assistance for Provinces to use when planning and running a Festival in support of one of the four central Masonic Charities.

The guidance contained in the document is not intended to be prescriptive or constitute firm recommendations from the Charities. Instead the Guidelines document was written using the experience of a variety of sources such as the members of the Festival Working Party established to create the document, feedback from the Festival Forum, the staff and officials of the Charities and input from external bodies such as the Institute of Fundraising.

Each Province must make its own decisions – this document offers guidance only.

Background and Further Information

Following the Provincial Grand Charity Stewards’ Conference in 2009, two working parties were established by the central Masonic Charities. Firstly, the Charity Stewards Working Party chaired by Eric McConnell and, secondly, the Festival Working Party chaired by Conrad Donaldson (Provincial Grand Charity Steward - Devonshire).

The former is currently producing a manual for Lodge Charity Stewards which will be published in mid-2011. The Festival Working Party has produced the Festival Guidelines document.
