The Grand Charity welcomes a new President
Richard Hone, QC, President of the Grand Charity
Richard Hone first joined the Council of the Grand Charity in 1997. He initially served for nine years during which time he was Chairman of the Finance Committee and was instrumental in bringing about a major revision of the Charity’s constitution which extended membership of the Grand Charity to master masons. After a gap of five years, his re-appointment in June 2011 was much welcomed by the other Council members. Initiated in Apollo University Lodge in 1968, Richard Hone is a Senior Circuit Judge at the Central Criminal Court at Old Bailey, London.
Richard Hone spoke with Siobhan McCarthy, to discuss his new role as
President of the Grand Charity and his thoughts on what the future holds:
Grahame Elliott, CBE, retired as President of the Grand Charity on 25 April 2012.
Grahame Elliott has served on the Council for the past nine years, the first three as a member appointed by the Provincial Grand Master for East Lancashire, whose Province held the Charity’s Festival in 2004. As President, Grahame Elliott has led the Charity with much dedication and vision.
Grahame Elliott's Goodbye Statement
The Grand Charity is managed by a Council of 30 members.
Laura Chapman, Chief Executive
Laura Chapman was born in California, but has lived in the UK since the early 1970's. Prior to joining The Freemasons' Grand Charity in 1999, she oversaw BT's multi-million pound Community Affairs Programme. In 2001, Laura was appointed as Chief Executive of the Charity.
Richard Camm-Jones, Secretary
Richard Camm-Jones has been with The Freemasons' Grand Charity since it was established, having previously administered the work of its predecessor, the Board of Benevolence.
